1:48 Lavochkin La-5FN is a 3D textured instrument panel and cockpit accessories on decal paper in 1:48 scale. It is applied as a decal, not as a glued part. Intended for the Zvezda kit.

A cockpit accessory for a plastic model, not an aircraft kit. The color print with relief texture is on decal paper and is applied like an ordinary decal: soak it off in lukewarm water, slide it onto the part, line it up and settle it with a decal softener. In 1:48 scale that is more practical than painting gauges that measure only a fraction of a millimeter on the model. The target kit is Zvezda.
A Soviet fighter of this generation has a deliberately austere cockpit. There are considerably fewer instruments than on contemporary Western and German machines and they are set in a simple flat panel, so every single gauge stands out and a missing or badly handled instrument shows at once. The engine controls are concentrated on the left wall and a reflector gunsight dominates the center of the panel. That very simplicity is a trap for the modeler: on a sparse panel nothing can be hidden behind a tangle of detail and the difference between a printed and a painted panel is striking at first glance.
The La-5FN has a cut-down fuselage spine and a sliding canopy with a good view, so once it is closed the front panel, the upper part of the seat and the belts stay visible. The side walls hide behind the fuselage sills and will be seen only by someone building with the canopy slid back. With a closed cockpit it therefore pays to concentrate care on the front panel and the belts; the rest is work for a display case with an open model. Before closing up, let the decals dry out thoroughly and polish the clear parts.
The set is an accessory for the build, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check before ordering that the set corresponds to your particular kit.
