Hauler 1:48 M4A1 (76) W Sherman photo-etched detail set is a metal accessory for the model of the version with the cast hull and the 76 mm gun. It completes a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched fret from the Czech maker Hauler for the model of the M4A1 with the 76 mm gun in 1:48 scale, cut for the Hobby Boss kit. The set replaces selected plastic parts with thin metal. It is not a model and not a kit.
The M4A1 is recognizable from the other Shermans at first glance: it had a cast hull with rounded shapes instead of welded flat walls. The designation in brackets gives the 76 mm gun in the larger turret, and the letter W the so-called wet stowage, where the ammunition racks are surrounded by liquid and the risk of fire after a hit is reduced. This combination belongs to the later forms and differs from the early Shermans in the shape of the turret as well.
A cast hull means that you will be gluing a number of photo-etched parts onto a curved surface. Pre-bend the metal part to the shape of the hull over a cylinder of a suitable size, for example the shank of a drill bit, and only then try it dry. Glue from one end and hold the part with tweezers until the glue takes. On curved surfaces a thin super glue works well, as it runs under the part by capillary action. Once finished, degrease the whole model and apply a thin primer. The cast surface of the hull deserves a fine texture, which can be suggested by stippling with an old brush into primer that has not yet dried, but leave the metal parts smooth.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
