A cut self-adhesive mask from New Ware in 1:48 scale, aimed at the exhaust nozzles of the F-4J version. The package holds a backing sheet with ready-made shapes. It is an accessory for a build, not a kit or a replacement resin part.
The individual versions of the Phantom differ from each other in their powerplants and in the shape of the tail end around the nozzles, so the boundary between the metal area and the painted airframe does not lie in the same place on every example. A mask cut for another version would therefore fit only approximately and the edge would have to be adjusted. That is exactly why the manufacturer releases separate sets for related versions of one type.
The best result comes from working light to dark. First spray the base metal tone over the whole masked area, let it set and only then tint the individual rings lightly with darker shades or a brownish translucent tint. Do not mix metal paints with matte shades on the same surfaces without an intermediate coat, or the pigment will be contaminated. The mask holds the boundary in the same place throughout, so the transition stays crisp even after several coats.
The package holds only the masking film. Paints, glue and a kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
