The New Ware 1:48 mask set Me 262B-1a/U1 — national insignia makes it possible to spray the markings directly in paint instead of using decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive cut masks intended for spraying the national insignia onto the model of the two-seat version of the jet airplane in 1:48 scale. The set holds neither decals nor parts of the model — it is an aid for a modeler who wants the markings created in paint and not in film.
A decal lies on the surface and against the light its glossy carrier film can be seen, especially on a matte camouflage. Sprayed markings, by contrast, are part of the painted layer: they have no edge, they form no step and they take later weathering, a sanded transition and a matte clear coat without trouble. The benefit is greatest on large markings, which as a decal would have to be settled over engraving and riveting and easily wrinkle in the process.
The base must be smooth, clean and fully cured. Apply the mask, press it down thoroughly all the way round and first spray it over with a thin coat of the base color — that closes any gaps under the edge and anything that then gets through does not show. Only after that lay the color of the marking on, again in several thin coats. With multi-color markings work through the individual masks from the lighter tone to the darker and let the paint set between them. Take the mask off while the layer is still flexible.
The package contains masking film only. Neither the model nor the paints are part of the delivery.
