Self-adhesive masks cut to shape for a model of the MiG-19PM interceptor in 1:48 scale. The product is not a kit but an aid for painting. The BASIC level means the smallest of the coverages offered by the set, that is, basic coverage of the areas that are hardest to mask.
The PM version was an interceptor variant intended to destroy targets in any weather. Instead of cannon it carried guided missiles and a radar in the nose, because of which the front section has a different shape and covers of a different material from the surrounding skin. It is exactly these areas that are often sprayed in a separate shade on a model, so the precise boundary between them and the surroundings decides how credible the result looks.
The MiG-19 was the first Soviet production fighter capable of supersonic flight in level flight. The interceptor versions received a radar and an armament of guided missiles, which made them an air defense tool able to strike even in reduced visibility. The type entered service with many states and was a stepping stone to later, faster machines.
Spray the radar and antenna covers separately and run the boundary along the mask, not freehand. Degrease the areas before applying them, and with natural metal it pays to work in gloves. Spray several light coats so that no ridge of paint forms at the edge. Take the mask off while the paint is dry only to the touch.
The set contains masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The masks match a particular kit of this type, so check that they suit your model.
