A set of masking films for the Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 in 1:48 scale. It masks the cockpit glazing from the outside and the inside and carries two national insignia masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
The letter K belonged to the last series-built form of the Messerschmitt Bf 109. It began reaching combat units in the autumn of 1944 and was assembled mainly by the Erla works in Leipzig and an Austrian plant at Wiener Neustadt. Power came from a Daimler-Benz DB 605D with a more capable supercharger, a heavy cannon fired through the propeller axis and a pair of synchronized machine guns sat above the engine. The recognition features of the version are the relocated filler points, the lengthened tailwheel leg and the enlarged wheel bulges on the upper wing surface.
The Kurfürsts appeared mainly with formations defending the territory of the Reich and over the Western Front. On the morning of the first of January 1945 they were among the types that took part in the mass strike on Allied airfields in Belgium and the Netherlands. The aircraft themselves had a decent rate of climb and speed, but that winter fuel was lacking and experienced pilots were being lost faster than production could deliver new airframes.
The films cover the canopy from two faces, that is the outer surfaces and the framing visible from inside, and two national insignia masks complement them. The material is laid straight onto the clear part, it holds the shape of the frame and once the spray has dried it peels off without residue. Anyone building the cockpit open will appreciate the inner part.
Before the build, compare the cut with the clear part you have, because the shape of the canopy differs between kits. Neither the aircraft model nor paints are part of the delivery.
