A plastic kit of the first jet fighter committed to combat, the Messerschmitt Me 262, in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is an injection-molded model in gray plastic with engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit, a clear canopy and jet engines under the wings. This boxing represents the trials version A-1a/U1 with strengthened mixed cannon armament in the nose.
The Me 262 was the first jet fighter committed to combat and it markedly exceeded its piston-engined rivals in speed. Compared with the standard A-1a, the trials version A-1a/U1 had more numerous and mixed cannon armament made up of several types of cannon in different calibers; the aim was to increase the destructive effect against bombers. It was a solution tried only to a limited extent at the very close of the war.
Assemble and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage; it is usually a good idea to add weight in the nose so that the model sits on its nose gear. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the joints. Late-war camouflage schemes with mottling are best handled with an airbrush; a final matte varnish will unify the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
