A printed decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun. This is neither a model nor a kit but a separate accessory for a kit already bought; the package holds decals only. The exact extent of the sheet, the number of schemes offered and the particular machines depicted are given on the box of the set.
The Bf 108 Taifun was an all-metal cantilever low-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cabin for four people. An air-cooled inverted-V engine provided the propulsion. The aircraft came about as a fast touring and sporting machine and stood out for its aerodynamically clean airframe, a decent range and surprisingly good behavior at low speeds, which the flaps and the automatic slots on the leading edge took care of. In design it is an important intermediate step, because solutions were proved on it that later appeared on the Bf 109 fighter. The Taifuns served for carrying people, for liaison flights and for training, and after the war they were built under license in France, so this type can be met with in a fairly varied range of colorings.
Paint the model and go over it with a gloss varnish, or a silvery film will stay under the decal. Cut the motifs close around the print, soak them for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let them rest until they can be slid. A softener will help the decal flow around the scribing and the curves, which matters above all with the large markings on the wing and the fuselage. Once it has dried, rinse the surface clean of adhesive residue and unify it with a matte or satin varnish, according to what surface your own reference has.
This is a separate decal sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
