A set of masking films, 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2, from HGW. It is not an airplane model but precisely shaped self-adhesive masks for easy and clean spraying of the canopy frames and the other transparencies of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2 in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive masking films, not a model on its own. The HGW masks are cut precisely from fine Japanese paper tape, the kabuki type, and they serve to mask the transparent areas when spraying the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2 fighter in 1:48 scale. They let the canopy frames and the other transparencies be sprayed sharply and with no paint creeping under the edge. The masks are designed to the shape of the matching kit in this scale and they are not intended for the model itself.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2 belonged to the early production of the G series, nicknamed the Gustav. It was powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine and against the F version it offered higher performance as well as armament. The G-2 version lacked the pressurized cabin, unlike the G-1, and it was deployed from 1942 on all the main fronts.
Take the parts off the sheet carefully, transfer them onto a cleaned and degreased transparency and press the edges down carefully so that the paint does not creep under. The masks copy the framing of the canopy, so laborious cutting of tape is unnecessary. Use thin coats of paint on the small areas and lift the mask off while the spray has only just dried. The remaining parts of the sheet can be used to cover the surrounding areas against overspray.
This is an accessory for masking; the kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
