The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G was the most widespread fighter version of the type. It was powered by the DB 605 inverted V12 engine, and compared with the earlier standards both the strengthening of the airframe and the equipment grew, which showed on the silhouette as a number of small bulges and covers. The G-4 version is among the first machines of the G series, and the suffix R3 denotes the equipment set with which the aircraft served for reconnaissance.

What the sheet contains

The sheet carries the markings of the machine with the tactical number Blue 4. The exact extent of the motifs, their placing and a color drawing of the camouflage are given in the enclosed instructions. It pays to go through them before painting, because some of the markings may follow the boundaries of the camouflage.

How it is applied

With ordinary sheets the wet method is used:

• spray the model with gloss clear and let it dry
• cut the motif out with a narrow margin of the backing and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds
• once it has rested, slide the motif off the backing into place and guide it with a brush
• draw the water off from under the motif and let it dry without touching it
• finally even the surface out with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat

Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive standard. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked later.

Who it is for

The sheet suits modelers who want to build a particular machine and are not satisfied with the markings from the box. The model, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
