A set of thirty miniature metal turnbuckles in 1:48 scale from GasPatch, in the type A pattern. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for rigging, the bracing wires of biplanes and other First World War aircraft. The turnbuckles are precisely made metal parts that stand in faithfully for the real tensioning couplings on the wires and lift the realism of the airframe well above a simple taut thread.
The package holds 30 metal turnbuckles of type A. They are fitted onto the bracing wires between the wings and the fuselage of historic aircraft, where they form the visible termination and the tensioning element of the wire. The metal construction is strong enough to hold the pull of a tensioned wire. The turnbuckles suit the building of First World War aircraft models in 1:48 scale from various makers. The individual GasPatch turnbuckle types differ in shape, so the modeler can pick the pattern that matches a particular subject.
Thread the turnbuckle onto the wire, for example drawn nylon filament or elastic thread, and secure it with a drop of super glue. Deburr the parts before fitting them and paint them in a metal, brass or steel shade. Work with tweezers and in good light, because the parts are very small.
This is an accessory for rigging, not an aircraft model. The wire, glue, paints and the model are not included in the package.
