Eduard 1:48 MiG-27 F.O.D. — photo-etched set is a photo-etched detail set of intake and nozzle covers (F.O.D.) for the model of the MiG-27 fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched brass set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but a modeling accessory. The abbreviation F.O.D. stands for the protective covers, or plugs, of the air intakes and of the exhaust nozzle, which were put on a parked aircraft to stop foreign objects getting into the engine. On a model they look telling on a machine standing on the ground.
The MiG-27 is a Soviet single-engine fighter-bomber with a variable-geometry wing, derived from the MiG-23 fighter and optimized for strikes on ground targets. It was marked by a drooped nose with a good view out and by a heavy gun and bomb load.
Separate the photo-etched brass parts carefully from the fret with a sharp knife, form the bends in a bending tool or with a ruler and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Clean the surfaces before gluing and roughen them lightly for better grip. The covers are fitted onto the intakes and the nozzle of the model; they are often finished with red warning stripes when painted.
This is a photo-etched detail set, not a model. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
