The Eduard 1:48 Mikoyan MiG-15 landing flaps photo-etched set is an etched accessory for the landing flaps of a 1:48 MiG-15 model. It lets you build the flaps lowered; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etch from the Czech maker Eduard aimed at the landing flaps. Sets of this type are bought so that the closed plastic surface of the wing can be replaced by a thin metal flap lowered into its working position. The base model is not included in the package.
The MiG-15 is a single-seat jet fighter of the late 1940s with a swept wing. The landing flaps were lowered on the ground and on approach, so a model of a parked aircraft looks truer with the flaps down than with a clean wing.
Reckon with cutting into the plastic. The flap has to be cut out of the wing, usually scribed along the engraved line and then taken through with a scalpel or a saw; the edges of the opening are then trued up with abrasive paper on a firm backing. Cut the opening a little small and widen it step by step — you can always sand more away, but you cannot add plastic back. The metal flap is glued with cyanoacrylate and is fragile under pressure, so pick the finished model up by the fuselage, not by the wing. Before gluing, try the angle of the lowered flap dry and keep it the same on both sides.
The photo-etched set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package. Make sure the set matches your kit.
