An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese carrier-based fighter biplane Nakajima A2N3 (Type 90 carrier fighter) in 1:48 scale. The set contains several plastic sprues including a clear one and decals for two markings. The finely rendered fabric surfaces of the wings and fuselage give the model a lively finish; it is a rewarding subject for lovers of prewar biplanes.
The Nakajima A2N (Type 90 carrier fighter) appeared at the beginning of the 1930s as a carrier-based fighter for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Its design was influenced by contemporary American carrier fighters and the machine became one of the main carrier fighters of its day. The A2N3 version represented a later production variant; these light and agile biplanes operated from the decks of Japanese aircraft carriers right up to the move to more modern monoplanes.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. On a biplane, pay attention to the exact seating of the interplane struts — fix the lower wing first and adjust the upper one only once it has dried. After assembly, add the bracing wires from fine thread, which gives the model the right character. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage; the fabric surfaces come out well after gentle shading and a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
