A set of photo-etched parts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, meant for detailing the exterior of the model of the American observation and reconnaissance aircraft Grumman OV-1D Mohawk in 1:48 scale. The photo-etched parts in thin metal sheet replace or fill out the less faithful plastic elements of the outer surface and give the model a fineness that plastic cannot capture. It is not a model of an airplane but an accessory for advanced detailing; the basic kit has to be bought separately.
The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk is an American twin-engine turboprop aircraft for observation and tactical reconnaissance, put into action above all by the US Army from the 1960s. The OV-1D version carried interchangeable sensor equipment, including a side-looking radar and infrared sensors. Its triple vertical tail and glazed cabin with an excellent view out are characteristic.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool or with the help of a metal ruler. They are best glued with super glue, or with epoxy. Degrease the metal parts before painting, so that the primer and the paint hold well.
