A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for models of the American P-38 Lightning fighter, the first part of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-38 Lightning is an American twin-engined fighter with an unmistakable symmetrical silhouette: two longitudinal booms, a connecting tailplane between them and, in the middle, a short nacelle with the pilot and the armament. The weapons concentrated in the nose of the nacelle fired in parallel, so the converging fire usual on machines with weapons in the wing was avoided. The aircraft served in many roles and carried varied markings, which makes it a rewarding subject for decal sheets.
Markings and lettering for P-38 Lightning models in 1:48 scale. The number in the name distinguishes the first part from the following sheets of the same series, which cover further machines. Which particular aircraft are covered on the sheet and what references belong to them are given in the instructions for the sheet.
Proceed in the usual wet way: cut the item out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it begins to move on the paper. The base must be smooth and coated with a gloss varnish, otherwise air will stay under the decal and the edges will go white. Once aligned, squeeze the water out with a soft cloth from the middle outwards and let it dry; on broken-up places a softener helps. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions that it is not a self-adhesive version. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined for good, whereas a wet decal can be soaked at any time later.
The model, paints, clear coat and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
