Decals in 1:48 scale for five tanks of the 2nd Polish Corps in Italy in 1945, four of them with the 17-pounder gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
The soldiers of General Anders went by a route that has no parallel in the Second World War: from Soviet camps through the Middle East to Italy, where the corps broke the front at Monte Cassino and ended the war at Bologna. When the fighting fell silent, the Polish units stayed in Italy for many months more, and it is from that time that most of the photographs come on which this sheet is based. Four of the five machines were photographed in August 1945 at Loreto, the fifth a few months earlier.
Four of the five tanks are conversions armed with the British 17-pounder gun, and on these the hull has a cast nose welded to rolled sides. The last of the machines carries the original short 75 mm gun and an all-cast hull. The difference between the two forms is visible on a model at first glance, so before building it pays to choose the decal according to which kit you have in your hands.
With Polish crews the names are half the story: Rycerz (knight), Wielki Walc (great waltz) or Zawieja (blizzard) say more about the men than a serial number does. The sheet contains decals only, not a model, paints or varnish. Before applying them it pays to polish the place with gloss varnish, or matte edges will show through the thin film.
