A decal sheet in 1:48 for the French Potez 63-11 reconnaissance aircraft with four marking variants of the period 1940 to 1942.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Potez 63-11 was the observation and reconnaissance branch of the twin-engine Potez 63 family. What sets it apart from its fighter siblings is the extensively glazed nose, from which the observer directed the photographing of the ground as well as the ranging of artillery. By the summer of 1940 French production had managed to deliver hundreds of examples and the type became the most numerous machine the French Air Force had at that time. The heavy losses of the May and June fighting therefore fell on it.
The markings on this sheet are carried by works number, so each variant can be paired with a particular period photograph. One example served with the group GR I/36 at the close of 1942, two more carry the insignia of the Vichy French Air Force, and the last belonged to the 2nd escadrille of the group GR II/22 and is captured at Montpellier. Besides the national insignia the sheet also brings fuselage letters, codes and small lettering, which come into their own on a model of this size.
Cut out only as much of the carrier film as the motif needs and dip the piece in lukewarm water for a few dozen seconds. As soon as the film begins to slide over the backing, hold it with tweezers by the edge and move it onto a gloss coat. Draw off the excess water with a soft cloth and fine-tune the position with a brush while the motif still slides.
