The Aerobonus resin figure represents a pilot of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) from the First World War, shown with a map. This is not an aircraft kit, but a standalone figure for a scene or for a standing model in 1:48 scale. Aerobonus is the figure line of the manufacturer Aires, focused on aviation personnel.
Even in 1:48 scale, First World War biplanes are small and often stand on a base with no context. A pilot figure gives the model a reference for scale and, above all, a mood: a map in the hands is a legible gesture that tells the scene at once, whether it is preparing for a flight, checking the route or a conversation before takeoff. The figure can be placed beside the aircraft, by the wing or paired with another crew figure.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting block off with a fine saw; sand the resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the figure before setting it into the scene, because afterwards you will not reach the lower areas. The uniform benefits from a matte acrylic with a fine wash into the folds and a dry brush on the edges; make the leather parts richer and glossier so that they stand apart from the cloth. It is worth keeping the map very light so that it glows in the composition, and a hint from the finest brush is enough for the small lines, because literal drawing at this scale looks worse than a well-chosen tone. Model the face with light and shadow.
The figure is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Paints, glue and the aircraft model are not included in the package.
