The Su-30 is a two-seat Russian combat aircraft derived from the Su-27 machine, which is called Flanker in Western designation. The crew is made up of two men sitting one behind the other under long glazing, so both cockpits are well seen on the finished model and it pays off to add detail to them. The designation of the version in the name is garbled, so the exact rendering of the machine is left to the instructions from the manufacturer.
The set is aimed at the interior, that is at the equipment of the pilot's compartment. The photo-etched parts are etched into a thin metal fret and hold in it on narrow tabs; photo-etch can be thinner and more broken up than injection-molded plastic, which suits instrument panels, side consoles and similar small items. The list of the elements and the kit they are cut for are given in the instructions from the manufacturer; check it against the kit you have, because photo-etched elements are cut to the shape of the parts of a particular model.
Seat the cockpits before you glue the halves of the fuselage together. With the colored elements check in the instructions whether they have an adhesive layer of their own, so that you do not lay glue on needlessly. Separate the other parts with a sharp blade, sand the remainder of the tab down and lead the bend along the marked groove in one movement. The molded raised detail is sometimes sanded away under a photo-etched part, so that the element seats flat. Degrease the elements without a color finish before spraying and spray them with a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal. Work with the small parts with tweezers over a light surface.
