Toro Model 1:48, Polish infantryman, September 1939 is a stand-alone resin figure of a soldier in field uniform, meant for dioramas and display scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
A stand-alone figure in cast resin from the Polish maker Toro Model. It represents a rank-and-file soldier of the Polish infantry in the autumn of 1939 in field uniform and with personal gear. According to the manufacturer's catalog it is one figure. It is not a kit of a piece of equipment but an addition that gives a finished model scale and a scene life. The casting is supplied unpainted and with its casting blocks.
The infantryman was the basis of the Polish army of 1939. He carried a personal weapon, a haversack, a canteen and other items of gear hung on the belt and the straps, so the silhouette of the figure is varied and readable in a diorama. The figure suits both equipment and a civilian setting, at a village farmstead, by a road or among city buildings. It is precisely the combination of an infantry figure and a finished vehicle that usually gives a scene its sense of scale.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent, otherwise the paint holds badly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or nippers and sand the transitions wet with respiratory protection. Glue any separate parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay on a thin primer before painting. Build the uniform up from a mid-tone layer, deepen the shadows with a glaze and lighten the edges. On a small figure the flesh reads best when the shades blend smoothly rather than too contrastily. Finally unify the surface with a matte varnish and, if you like, suggest dust on the boots and trouser legs.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
