Photo-etched side armor skirts (Schürzen) for the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G in 1:48 scale from Aber. Intended for the early production version of the German self-propelled anti-tank gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It replaces the plastic side skirts, in German Schürzen, on a model of the Sturmgeschütz III self-propelled anti-tank gun in the early-production Ausf.G version. The thin metal sheet captures a realistic thickness of the plates, hangers included, and it can be shaped or damaged in the way vehicles in the field commonly looked.
The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G was the most widespread variant of this self-propelled gun on the Pz.Kpfw. III chassis, armed with a 75 mm gun with a long barrel. The Schürzen fitted from 1943 protected the sides of the hull and the running gear against rounds from anti-tank rifles and against shaped-charge ammunition.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat or with photo-etch scissors, and make the bends in a bending tool or along a steel ruler. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces beforehand. Lay down a base coat suitable for metal before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the etched parts.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
