Responsibility details are not available.
A color photo-etched instrument panel in 1:48 scale for the cockpit of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VII, Mk.VIII and early Mk.IX. It is a finished detail accessory, not an aircraft model: the part is of fine photo-etched metal, painted at the factory and fitted with authentic dial faces and instrument labels. It comes in a self-adhesive version, so it is placed straight into the cockpit with no need for spraying or hand painting.
The later Spitfires of the VII, VIII and early IX series were powered by high-altitude Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engines and offered considerably better performance at great heights. The VII version had a pressurized cockpit for high-altitude operations, while the Mk.IX became one of the most successful and most widely used versions of the whole Spitfire line.
Cut or sand the original instrument panel from the kit down flat so that the photo-etched part sits properly. Peel off the backing film and press the panel into place; on larger parts a drop of cyanoacrylate helps. For maximum depth the dial faces can be given a drop of clear resin or gloss varnish, which imitates the glasses of the instruments. Work on fine photo-etch with tweezers and clean fingers.
This is a detail accessory for a cockpit, not a complete model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package.
