A kit of the Soviet tactical bomber Sukhoi Su-24M with a variable-geometry wing in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-24 is a Soviet tactical bomber with a variable-geometry wing. The wing spread out gives the machine load capacity and shortens its take-off, while swept back it lets it fly fast and low over the terrain, where it is harder to pick up. The cockpit is a two-seater with side-by-side seats, so the pilot and the operator watch the same instruments and do not have to report anything over a shoulder. The M version received modified equipment for the use of precision-guided weapons and a probe for refueling in flight. The machine stayed in service long after the end of the Cold War.
This is a kit to be assembled and painted in 1:144 scale. The finished model measures around seventeen centimeters in length; the span depends on the position in which you build the wing. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the marking options on offer are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Decide in advance whether the wing will be spread out or swept back. The position determines how you seat the part and how you treat the gap at the root. A small scale forgives less than is expected: gaps and sanding marks show clearly on a smooth surface, so polish the surface carefully after filling. Use a cement for plastic models and meter it sparingly; on small parts a drop on the tip of a blade is enough. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. If you are going to apply decals, prepare a gloss base under them, as on a matte one a light edge will appear around them.
The kit suits modelers who collect in a small scale and want whole families of aircraft side by side on a shelf, and those drawn to a variable-geometry wing. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
