This is not a model of the aircraft but the most comprehensive set of ground equipment for the later version of the Su-27 in 1:48 scale. According to the name it contains a wheeled boarding ladder to the cockpit, chocks under the wheels and a service ladder, that is the steps used when working on the aircraft. The set is from the LP Models brand. The number of parts and the dimensions are given on the packaging of the set.
Three elements in one set make it possible to build a complete airfield scene without hunting the accessories down piece by piece. The boarding ladder suggests preparation for flight, the service steps maintenance in progress, and the chocks under the wheels complete the picture of a parked machine.
The Su-27 is a twin-engine fighter aircraft with a high-set cockpit, to which a boarding ladder is wheeled up when it is being prepared for flight. Maintaining a machine of this size calls for further wheeled steps as well, so that the crew can reach the upper parts of the fuselage and the engine section. Chocks under the main wheels are part of the standard equipment of an aircraft standing on the apron. The Late Ver. designation in the name refers to the form for the later machines; for the early versions the manufacturer offers separate sets.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and sand the surfaces down wet, with respiratory protection. Make the joints with cyanoacrylate glue and glue the ladders on a flat surface, so that they stand upright. After the primer apply the base shade, then go over the structure with a dry brush and the joints with a light wash. In reality the chocks tend to be scuffed and dusty, so slight wear and dry pigment at their heels will do the set good.
The accessory is supplied unassembled, unpainted and without a model of the aircraft. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
