A New Ware 1:48 mask set for the Su-35S, BASIC grade — pre-cut kabuki masks in the basic scope for painting the glazing frames cleanly.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masking templates in kabuki paper for a model of the Su-35S multirole aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a part of a model, but an accessory for painting that replaces the lengthy business of cutting masks from tape by hand. BASIC is the lowest of the three scope grades New Ware uses for its sets; the more comprehensive ADVANCED and EXPERT grades are also made for the same aircraft.
The Su-35S is a single-seat twin-engine multirole aircraft of Russian design, derived from the Su-27 family. It has an integral aerodynamic layout with a pronounced center-section, two jet engines with afterburners and a one-piece hinged cockpit canopy. It is that large, strongly curved canopy with several frames that is among the hardest places to mask on models of this family.
The base must be cured, degreased and smooth. Lift the masks with tweezers, lay them on dry and press the edges down with a toothpick — kabuki paper conforms well to the curve of the canopy, but the edge has to seat along its whole length. Spray a thin layer of the interior shade onto the frames first, and only then the top camouflage. Take the masks off while the paint is dry to the touch and not fully cured.
The set contains only masking templates. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
