AML painting masks for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe in 1:48 scale. Self-adhesive masks from a Czech manufacturer for clean spraying of the camouflage scheme without laborious blocking out by hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting masks from the Czech manufacturer AML intended for spraying the camouflage onto a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for painting: precisely cut self-adhesive masks that you stick onto the model and spray over with an airbrush. The result is straight, repeatable transitions between colors where outlining by hand with a brush would take hours and the result would be uncertain.
The Spitfire Mk.XVIe was a late war version of the famous British fighter, powered by the license-built Packard Merlin 266 engine. A number of aircraft flew with a cut-down fuselage spine and a bubble canopy; the type E wing carried Hispano cannons and 12.7 mm machine guns. Aircraft of this version were used from 1944 to 1945 mainly for attacks on ground targets over western Europe, and their camouflage consisted of the standard British colors with bold identification markings.
Before sticking the masks on, let the base paint cure completely and degrease the surface. Transfer the masks with tweezers and press the edges down lightly with a squeegee or a toothpick so that paint does not run under them. Spray thin coats at lower pressure square to the edge of the mask and lift the mask off while the paint is only touch-dry; the edge will stay sharp and clean.
These are painting masks, an accessory for painting. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
