Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Special Hobby. It is an aircraft model, not an add-on set. Special Hobby uses the Hi-Tech designation for enriched packages in which the content goes beyond the plastic itself; it is always worth checking the exact make-up of such a package against the details on the box.
The Hawker Tempest Mk.II was a British single-seat fighter in which the designers turned away from the liquid-cooled H-block engine and used the powerful Bristol Centaurus radial. Against the Mk.V version, powered by the Napier Sabre, the forward fuselage therefore changed fundamentally: the ventral radiator disappeared and the nose was given a short, full shape of large diameter. The type kept its laminar flow wing with a thin section. Series production of the Mk.II got going so late that the type never saw combat in Europe; aircraft of this version later entered service with several foreign users.
Special Hobby is among the manufacturers working with short-run molds, so reckon with more careful cleanup of the mating surfaces and with a dry fit before cementing. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the glazing up. The engine cowling is the most exposed part to the eye — spend time on getting it to sit on the axis of the fuselage. Apply a base coat (primer) before spraying; on a laminar flow wing it reveals even the small unevenness that would show in overhead light. Put the decals on a gloss varnish and seal them with a matte or satin coat. Cement the propeller and the landing gear legs only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
