A photo-etched metal set for completing a plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank in 1:48 scale from Aber. It replaces the coarsely molded plastic stowage bin on the rear of the turret with a thin-walled metal part with the correct sheet thickness, a hinged lid and brackets. This is an accessory, not a standalone model.
The Pz.Kpfw. III was a German medium tank that formed the backbone of the armored units in the first half of the Second World War. The sheet-metal bin for crew gear mounted on the rear wall of the turret appeared on vehicles deployed in North Africa and quickly spread to other fronts as well. Its outline is among the most noticeable recognition features of the later versions, and on a model it is visible from every angle, so coarsely molded plastic gives itself away at once.
Nip the parts from the etched fret and clean them up, make the bends on a bending tool or along the scored lines and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a base coat for adhesion. In 1:48 scale the parts are very small, so sharp tweezers and good lighting pay off.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
