An injection-molded plastic kit of the Douglas SBD-2 Dauntless carrier dive bomber in 1:48 scale from the Academy brand, tied by its theme to the Battle of Midway. The model offers a well worked out cockpit, a clear canopy and the option of building the airbrakes in the open position. Photo-etched parts and a masking template for the glazing tend to be included as well.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the key carrier dive bomber of the US Navy at the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The SBD-2 version took part in the fighting of 1942, and machines of this and related versions played a decisive role in the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The Dauntless earned a reputation as an accurate and tough aircraft.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the cockpit and the interior before closing the fuselage. For the early Pacific finish an airbrush and fine shading of the surfaces are suitable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
