Lewis Mk.I Standard Type 1:48 (GasPatch Models) is a resin pair of Lewis aircraft machine guns in the standard form with a cooling jacket, for superdetailing First World War aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set that captures the British Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine gun in the standard aircraft form with a cylindrical cooling jacket, faithfully in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, two resin castings, to be built into an aircraft kit.
The Lewis was a British light machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) with a pan magazine on top, widely used in the First World War as the aircraft observer's flexible weapon. Cooling was provided by an aluminum finned radiator around the barrel enclosed in a tubular jacket, which is retained in this form.
The standard type matches the common aircraft form of the Lewis with the complete jacket as it appeared on flexible mounts throughout the war. The set is a universal accessory for a range of British and Allied biplanes.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. An even dark metal shade and light edge highlighting with a dry brush suit the cylindrical jacket.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
