Responsibility details are not available.
A combined package of accessories for the plastic kit of the battleship HMS Nelson as she was in 1944, in 1:700 scale. According to the name it holds a veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive backing, a masking sheet and planking masks. It is not a model; the set is glued onto the deck of the Trumpeter 06717 kit.
Planking masks complete the veneer where it cannot or should not be used: they let the plank pattern be sprayed straight onto the plastic. The combination of the two gives the modeler freedom; the veneer covers the main deck areas, while small platforms and stretches where veneer would be hard to shape can be solved by spraying through a mask. On a finished model both routes work side by side, as long as you match the shades.
The bow is the most delicate spot for veneer. The planks run together into a curve here and the material has to follow the curvature twice over, in plan and in the slight sheer of the deck. Work from the longitudinal axis out to the sides, press in short sections and do not hurry anywhere. Work at ordinary room temperature: in a cold workshop the adhesive is stiff and takes hold badly, while in heat the veneer reacts before you can seat it. Keep your hands dry and clean, as a fingerprint shows on light wood.
The set is not a model on its own. The plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
