An accessory set of 12 cm/45 and 8 cm/40 anti-aircraft guns of the Imperial Japanese Navy for ship models in 1:700 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The abbreviation IJN stands for the Imperial Japanese Navy. The set aims at two types of its anti-aircraft guns. The notation 12 cm/45 is read so that the first figure is the caliber of the barrel and the number after the slash is its length expressed in multiples of the caliber, that is in calibers; with the second gun it is in the same way a caliber of 8 cm and a length of 40 calibers. A longer barrel at the same caliber means a slimmer outline, and in 1:700 scale that is easy to see precisely on the silhouette of the deck armament.
A replacement for the deck weapons, which in a basic kit tend to be no more than suggested. Anti-aircraft armament is exactly the kind of feature on which a coarse part shows most, because these are tiny shapes with thin barrels and a divided mounting. The exact composition of the set and the number of parts are given by the manufacturer in the enclosed description.
Work with tweezers over a light-colored surface with a raised edge, because a barrel once dropped is hard to find on the floor. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and carefully sand the remainder. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and lay the paint on in thin coats, so that it does not flood the fine surface. The right glue and the procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set is an accessory to a kit. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
