A photo-etched detail-up set in 1:700 scale for a model of the Japanese aircraft carrier Ryujo after her second refit, prepared for the Aoshima kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ryujo was a Japanese light aircraft carrier, small and built high, which brought her trouble with stability; because of that she went through two refits in the nineteen thirties. In the Second World War she served in the Pacific and she was lost in 1942. The set is aimed precisely at the form of the ship after her second refit, as the kit it is prepared for captures her too.
These are photo-etched parts, that is metal elements etched into a thin fret in which they are held on narrow tabs. In 1:700 scale, photo-etching is practically the only way to get equipment onto a model that is meant to be only a few centimeters thick on the real thing. The list of parts is stated in the manufacturer's instructions. According to the name the set is prepared for the kit from the Aoshima firm, so models from other manufacturers cannot be reckoned with; photo-etched elements are cut to the shape of the parts of one particular model and need not seat elsewhere.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a firm surface, sand the rest of the tab down and work with the elements using tweezers over a light surface, because in this scale they really are small. Make the bends along the scored lines in one movement. They are glued with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied with a wire or a toothpick, and on larger assemblies a two-part glue helps, as it gives time to line things up. Degrease the elements before painting and spray them with a primer; painting is easier before they are fitted to the deck.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
