About product

Fujimi 1:700 IJN Light Cruiser Isuzu 1944

An injection-molded plastic kit of a ship in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. It captures the light cruiser Isuzu of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the form corresponding to 1944. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.

The real subject

The Isuzu was a light cruiser of the Nagara class. In the later phase of the war she went through a rebuild in which her armament was modified with the emphasis on anti-aircraft defense. The 1944 configuration thus reflects this late form of the ship as committed in the Pacific.

Building and painting tips

Build the hull as a full hull or as a waterline version, according to the form of the kit. The fine elements of the superstructures, the railings and the anti-aircraft guns are worth supplementing with photo-etched parts, which are sold separately. Paint with an airbrush and create the weathering with washes running into the details.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of warships in 1:700 scale
  • Anyone interested in late configurations of Japanese cruisers
  • Modelers with experience of small scales
  • Builders looking for a ship modified for anti-aircraft work

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
