A plastic kit of the Japanese light cruiser IJN Yubari from Tamiya in 1:700 scale, waterline version.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese light cruiser Yubari by Tamiya in 1:700 scale from the waterline range. The model renders the hull above the waterline, so once assembled it stands on a flat surface like a ship afloat. The package contains the parts of the hull, of the characteristic funnels, of the superstructures and of the armament. It is a kit to be assembled and painted, not a finished model.
Yubari was an unusual Japanese light cruiser meant to concentrate firepower comparable to that of far larger ships on a displacement of only about 3100 tons. She stood out for her flared bow and for her two funnels led into one, which influenced later Japanese designs. She fought in a number of Pacific actions of the Second World War; the model captures her as she was in 1944, with reinforced anti-aircraft armament.
A waterline model is built on a flat base; glue the small parts of the funnels, the guns and the masts with cyanoacrylate or with cement for plastic. Paint the hull and the superstructures in naval gray and set the wooden deck apart. Accent the recesses and engraved lines with a dark wash, and the anti-aircraft guns will come out after dry brushing. Railings and a stand can be added from supplementary accessories.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
