Eight turned 381 mm barrels for the battlecruiser Hood in 1:700 scale from Aber. A kit accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of eight turned metal barrels of 381 mm caliber in 1:700 scale for a model of the British ship Hood. These are the shorter barrel version, that is, the part that protrudes from the turret covered by a canvas blast bag. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic parts. In 1:700 scale the barrel is very slender and in plastic it practically never comes out straight.
The Hood was a British battlecruiser and for many years the largest warship in the world. It carried eight 381 mm guns in four twin turrets. In 1941 it met the German ship Bismarck and, after a hit in the area of the magazines, was gone within minutes along with almost her entire crew. The loss struck public opinion so hard that it became one of the best-known stories of the war at sea.
Cut off the plastic barrels and drill the holes exactly to the diameter of the pin. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply a primer. It is bonded with super glue drop by drop; apply it with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle. Fit the barrels last of all and check in each turret that both point in the same direction and have the same elevation, because a discrepancy is immediately visible on a ship model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
