This is a miniature kit of a set of aircraft in 1:700 scale, intended to complete models of ships. The box contains several pieces of the aircraft molded in clear plastic, so you can fill the catapults and decks of cruisers or battleships with faithful reductions of a shipboard scout machine.
The Curtiss SOC Seagull was an American catapult-launched scout biplane that served in the Second World War on the decks of cruisers and battleships of the US Navy. It was used for spotting naval gunfire, for observation and for communication and could be fitted with a float as well as a conventional landing gear.
The parts are very delicate for the scale. Careful separation from the sprue with a sharp knife, cleaning up and gluing with cyanoacrylate are the answer. The molding in clear plastic makes it easy to pick out the canopy glazing. For a convincing look, spray the aircraft and add naval national insignia.
This is a set of shipboard aircraft meant to complete a ship model. Paints, glue and the ship model itself are not included in the package.
