A resin kit of the Union armored river gunboat USS Cairo in her state from 1862, in 1:700 scale from the Czech maker ROP. The model is intended for experienced modelers with experience of resin. The castings capture the unmistakable casemate silhouette of a City class ironclad from the time of the American Civil War.
USS Cairo was an armored gunboat of the City class built for the Union Navy. She entered history as the first ship sunk by a naval mine, when on December 12, 1862 she struck a charge on the Yazoo River and sank without loss of life. The wreck was later raised and has survived as a museum exhibit.
First wash any mold release residue off the parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and sprue gates and sand the surfaces down with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The model suits a base or a water surface (waterline). Dark shades of armor, wooden deck surfaces and fine washes to bring out the casemate and the gun ports are recommended.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
