A wooden deck in 1:700 scale for a model of the American light cruiser Cleveland CL-55. The shape of the parts is prepared for the Pit-Road W22 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The light cruiser Cleveland with the hull designation CL-55 was the first ship of the class of the same name, a very numerous class of American light cruisers from the period of the Second World War. On ship models in a small scale the deck is the largest continuous area the viewer has in sight, so it bears on the resulting impression more than any other detail.
This is a wooden deck part in 1:700 scale, cut to the shape of the kit from the manufacturer Pit-Road with the catalog number W22. The outlines match precisely this kit, so they need not seat on a model from another manufacturer or in another scale. The surface is wooden, so the shade and the structure come from the material, not from paint.
Lay the deck on dry first and check exactly where the edge runs against the plastic part. Clean and degrease the plastic under it, so that the joint holds over the whole area. The way it is fixed and the recommended glue are given in the manufacturer's instructions; wood takes only a small amount of glue, and the excess soaks through to the face, where it is then hard to remove. Cut any overhang away with a sharp blade only after it has settled.
The set suits a modeler who builds ships in 1:700 scale and wants to solve the surface of the deck with material. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
