Even a small scale carries real timber well. Wooden decks at 1:700 are cut for individual kits and, thanks to the adhesive backing, simply press onto the hull — which spares you painting planks thinner than a millimetre. Alongside natural veneer you will find pre-painted carrier flight decks and sheets combined with an etched fret. Always check which kit boxing a sheet is cut for before ordering.

At 1:700 every tenth of a millimetre counts, and that is exactly why veneer beats a paintbrush: the plank seams are cut by laser rather than drawn on. The fleet these sheets belong to is in 1:700 ship model kits, the most widely built ship scale there is. The natural partner to a wooden deck is a set of 1:700 photo-etched parts with railings and ladders; every other scale is listed under wooden decks.
