Artwox Model 1:700 US Navy Louisiana BB-71 Wooden Deck with masking sheets is an accessory set for a plastic kit: a veneer deck completed by masking sheets. It is not a ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A combined package of accessories for the plastic kit of the battleship Louisiana BB-71 in 1:700 scale. According to the name it holds a veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive backing, and masking sheets with it. The set is glued onto the plastic deck of the model, it does not hold the kit itself, and it is cut for the one given with the product.
The combination of veneer and masks makes sense because a deck rarely ends at the wood. Around the deck areas there tend to be metal stretches, bases of superstructures and anchor sections that are painted differently. The veneer covers the wooden areas with the real grain of planks, and the masks bound the rest for spraying. The result is a model where the transition between wood and metal is not painted but made of material.
Veneer comes from the factory in a light, fairly uniform shade. If you want to shift the result, apply a very thin stain or an oil paint in a few strips only and spread it at once; the aim is a minute difference between planks, not contrast. Work on an offcut until you hit the shade, as wood takes pigment irreversibly. A thin coat of matte varnish then settles the surface and at the same time prevents soiling during the rest of the build.
The set is not a model on its own. The plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
