This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds miniature reels of ship cable and rope for the detailed fitting out of models of American warships in 1:700 scale. It is not a model or a kit, but an accessory with which you dress the decks and superstructure in small yet markedly realistic items of ship equipment.
Reels of rope and cable are typical deck equipment on warships, and in a small scale the plastic parts usually do not capture them at all. Finely photo-etched metal reels therefore enliven otherwise bare deck areas and add to the credibility of the model. The set matches US Navy practice and is usually usable across several vessels.
Separate the small parts from the fret with a sharp knife and assemble and handle them with tweezers. Use a small amount of super glue (cyanoacrylate) to attach them. Degrease the metal before bonding and paint the reels in the matching shades once they are in place.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
