USS Lexington CV-2 (05/1942) is an injection-molded plastic model of the American aircraft carrier of the Second World War in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

An injection-molded plastic model of the American aircraft carrier USS Lexington (CV-2) as she was in May 1942, in 1:700 scale from the brand Trumpeter. This is a new tooling; according to the parts supplied, the hull can be built either as a full hull with a stand or in the waterline version. The package holds a flight deck with an engraved surface, the characteristic large funnel, carrier aircraft and decals. The exact number of parts and of the carrier aircraft is given by the instruction sheet in the package.
Lexington was the lead ship of the class of the same name of American aircraft carriers, converted from the partly built hulls of battlecruisers. She stood out for her large dimensions, a strong gun armament and a striking massive funnel. In May 1942 she took part in the Battle of the Coral Sea, one of the first engagements fought entirely by carrier aviation, and on 8 May 1942 she was scuttled after heavy damage. Her state of May 1942 thus captures the ship in her last days.
Decide in advance between the full hull and the waterline version — the waterline stands out on a water base, the full hull on the stand supplied. Paint the flight deck with its planked surface and add the markings before you fit the small parts and the aircraft. Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic; the railings and the aerials can be completed with photo-etched parts (they are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise). Apply a primer, spray the color in thin coats with an airbrush and accent the deck with fine washes.
