This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from UM captures the DTR casemate armored railcar carried on a railway flatcar. It is a short-run model with photo-etched parts and a sheet of decals that offers an interesting subject from the field of armored rail vehicles.
Armored rail vehicles served to protect tracks, for reconnaissance and for fire support along railway lines. The casemate configuration enclosed the armament and the crew in an armored superstructure; carriage on a flatcar made it possible to move combat vehicles quickly along the rails. These specialized vehicles formed part of armored rail formations.
Clean the flash off the parts and separate the tiny pieces carefully. Glue the photo-etched elements with cyanoacrylate and the plastic joints with liquid modeling cement. The model shows well in a railway diorama with a section of track; for weathering, use washes, rust and pigments on the chassis of the flatcar as well as the armored superstructure.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
