This is not a model but a set of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale from the Czech publisher ROP o.s. It adds markings for machines in the Royal Air Force night fighter role to a kit of the British Boulton Paul Defiant fighter. It contains national insignia, squadron codes and personal markings of aircraft in a dark night finish.
The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British two-seat turret fighter whose only armament was a powered turret with four machine guns behind the pilot. As a day fighter it suffered heavy losses in 1940, but it found a role as a night fighter: in a dark finish and with a crew operating in darkness it was among the first Royal Air Force night hunters, which is where the name of this release comes from. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.
Dark night finishes call for a smooth gloss surface under the decals, so coat the area with gloss varnish. Dip the motif in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it onto the model. A softener will help the decal settle, and a final matte varnish unifies the surface of a night machine.
This is a decal set, not a model. To use it you need a separate kit of the Boulton Paul Defiant in 1:72 scale. Paints, glue and varnish are not included in the package.
