Rising Decals 1:72 Nakajima E8N1/E8N2 Dave is a decal sheet with eight finish and marking options for the Japanese shipboard reconnaissance floatplane biplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet from the manufacturer Rising Decals is not a kit but an accessory to a model that you buy separately. According to its designation it offers eight camouflage and marking options, so one kit can yield a machine that will meet nothing like itself on the display table. The decals cover both the E8N1 and the E8N2 versions.
The Nakajima E8N was a Japanese two-seat reconnaissance floatplane biplane of the 1930s. It was launched by catapult from surface ships and served for observation and gunfire spotting. The E8N1 and E8N2 versions differed mainly in their powerplant. The Allied code name of this type was Dave.
The base has to be glossy; on matte paint air is caught under the film and the decal silvers. Cut the sheet as close to the motif as you can, so that a minimum of carrier film is left. Soak the decal in lukewarm water for only a few seconds, lift it out and let it rest on a paper towel until it starts to slide on the backing by itself. On a floatplane biplane expect a number of the markings to lie on the rounded surfaces of the floats and on the struts, and a softener will help there. At the end, go over the area with a matte or satin coat, which hides the edges of the film completely.
The package contains the decal sheet only. The kit, the paints and the clear coat are not part of it.
