A set of photo-etched metal parts fills out the interior of an F-35B model in 1:72 scale. Etching yields flat parts from thin sheet with sharp edges and fine engraving, of a kind that cannot be produced in plastic in this scale. In 1:72 scale these are very small items, so get fine tweezers, a sharp blade and good light ready. What exactly the set covers and which kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The F-35B is the version of the American single-seat combat aircraft adapted for short takeoff and vertical landing, which lets it do without a long runway. The cockpit is modern and uncluttered, with a large display taking up the main area of the instrument panel. On a model only part of it is visible once the canopy is closed, but that makes the crispness of the detail on what does stay visible matter all the more.
The abbreviation S.A. denotes the self-adhesive form: the items have an adhesive layer on the back and are applied without glue. The surface beneath them has to be smooth, dry and degreased. The molded detail the part is meant to replace is sometimes sanded off the kit, so that the face sits down level; the extent of that work is given in the instructions. Glue the parts without an adhesive layer with super glue; cement for plastic will not join metal.
