Turned barrel for the Panzer IV Ausf. G in 1:72 scale from Aber, a 75 mm gun. A kit accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale for the German 75 millimeter gun with the designation KwK 40, intended for a model of the Panzer IV tank in the Ausf. G version. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic part. In a small scale the long barrel with its muzzle brake is the most prone to bowing, so the metal version pays off exactly here.
In 1942 the Panzer IV turned from a support vehicle into a full-fledged battle tank when it received a long high-velocity gun in place of the short weapon. The Ausf. G version was one of the first forms with this armament, and from that moment the Panzer IV could also deal with Soviet medium tanks. It stayed in production until the end of the war and became the most widespread German tank.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the seating so that the pin of the metal barrel sits firmly without passing right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is bonded with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, applied drop by drop. Fit the barrel at the very end of the build so that it is not bent during handling, and check its axis by eye from the front while the glue sets. In 1:72 scale, meter out the glue with the tip of a wire.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
