The Gloster Meteor F.8 Prone Pilot 1:72 is an injection-molded plastic kit of an experimental jet aircraft with an additional prone pilot station in the nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a special experimental version of the British Gloster Meteor F.8 jet fighter in 1:72 from the manufacturer Special Hobby. The package is usually supplemented by small higher-detail parts and decals. The model is notable for its unusual lengthened nose with a second, glazed pilot station.
The Meteor was the first British production jet fighter and one of the few Allied jet aircraft used in the Second World War. The F.8 version was the main postwar variant. The Prone Pilot special received a second station in a lengthened nose, where the pilot lay on his stomach; it served to study how a prone position helps in withstanding high g loads. It was a research machine that remained with the experiments.
Pay attention to a clean join of the lengthened nose and to the fit of both cockpits. Protect the glazing with masks and varnish it last. Natural metal or postwar RAF schemes will reward a good undercoat, fine airbrush work and a matte varnish before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
